Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to frequently asked questions about our fire company, volunteer opportunities, and more.

Where do I report an emergency? All emergencies should be reported to 911. DO NOT report any emergencies online. This page is not monitored.

How can I become a volunteer? You can stop by our station to pick up an application to be considered for volunteer membership. The application must be completed and must be notarized. Please note that the determination of a person’s eligibility to volunteer is based on a mandatory criminal background check which is a state and national search based on fingerprints submitted to the FBI. That means that you will have to be fingerprinted and a thorough background investigation will be conducted. Certain crimes can disqualify a person from volunteering with an EMS agency due to the high degree of public trust and public safety involved. Criminal convictions and even certain misdemeanors are common grounds for disqualification. Even if they are not felonies, certain other offenses may prevent someone from volunteering. Upon successful completion of a background check, you will be contacted by a member of our fire company to set up a membership interview with our Executive Committee at our earliest convenience. Remember, we are all volunteers also.

Where do I report controlled burns? Controlled burns should be reported to the Augusta County Emergency Communications Center at (540) 245-5061. When having a controlled burn, please make sure it is monitored at all times and you have a water source for extinguishment nearby. If it is unmonitored, it must be extinguished.
